Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get information regarding the security of data please? I am looking to use the MTD functionality for my firm, but need to get assurances about how the data is secured when transported from Excel to HMRC.

Thanks

Hi Tom,

Great question… We treat data security and confidentiality with the importance it rightfully deserves!

When business data is transmitted to HMRC, this is done with an encrypted 256 SSL link (Secure Sockets Layer). This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral. Also, only the figures within the 9 boxes are sent to HMRC, no other data from within your workbook.
Further information can be found below;

Terms of use - https://apps.datadear.com/termsofuse
Privacy Policy - https://apps.datadear.com/privacypolicy
GDPR - https://www.datadear.com/datadear-and-gdpr/

When accessing historic VAT data (payments, liabilities, returns) this is retrieved from HMRC each request, with the same encryption during transit. It is then up to you to decide how to store and save your workbook :smile:

Thanks,
Carl
