Error Messages after installing version 2.1.13

new-release

#1

We are encountering error messages when starting the Data Dear Excel Add-in. Data Dear version 2.1.13 was installed after opening excel, but we cannot access the app. Restarting excel shows the following error message:

“Oops…DataDear has failed to verify and download any possible updates. This could be related to lack of internet connectivity. If not, please close excel and try again and if the problem persist, please contact support.”

The add-in is not active…

It can be reactivated, but when you attempt to logon, the following error message appears:

“Oops… DataDear has failed to get any data for this query. This could be related to lack of internet connectivity. If not, please close excel and try again and if the problem persist, please contact support.”

Hi Daryl

It may look like the application got corrupted during the update (or the anti-virus might have corrupted the download). May I suggest you follow the following steps:

  1. Open the Programs option in the Control Panel (varies depending on the windows OS version).
  2. Find the DataDear Excel Add-in and select Uninstall.
  3. Copy and paste %appdata% in your File Explorer.
  4. Delete the entire Scope SaaS folder.
  5. Download DataDear from the DataDear web Dashboard and reinstall the latest version.
  6. If you are still experiencing problems, please open Excel and go to File > Options > Add-ins. Click on the drop-down next to Manage and select Disabled Items-ensure DataDear is not listed here otherwise select DataDear and click on Enable.
  7. Once again Click on the drop-down next to Manage and select Excel Add-ins. Make sure the DataDearLoader is ticked.

Hi Neville,

Thank you for your reply, but we still cannot get it to work. I followed your instructions (uninstall, delete, install, launch add-in from COM Addins. This did not work. It created a new error message in Excel. I have attached screenshot, the error message text and the DataDear log.

Hi Daryl

Do you have any active anti-virus like McAfee or Noton during the installation as it looks like some files are deleted after the installation.

If the problems persists, I suggest you contact support so we can organise a remote session.

We are encountering same error messages with version 2.1.13 (we use a proxy server).
No problem with previous version (2.1.11).
Did you fix this issue ?

Can you please reinstall the application following these steps as there was a small upgrade to the way the proxy was being handled.

  6. Open DataDear and reapply the proxy settings

#10

Hi Deville,

Thanks for your feedback.
We fixed this issue by modifying the defaultProxy setting in the configuration files:

  <defaultProxy>
    <proxy usesystemdefault="true" />
  </defaultProxy>

#11

Hi- Thanks for sharing this feedback!

#12

Hi Stachse and Neville,

This did not fix the issue for us. According the log file, the Add-in will reject the modified files because the Hash checks fail. It appears though that you have announcement that is similar to the problem we are encountering.

#13

Hi there,

I’m experiencing the same issue. It appears the add-in isn’t getting copied across the the appdata folder?

#14

Please see the attached screen shot. The add in file is missing (it was available in the old install). An even more frustrating issue is I can’t use the old version as we get a message instructing us to download the new version!

#15

Hi Daryl
Can you provide some more feedback on your setup so we can help you better!

#16

Have you tried to follow the steps indicated earlier in this thread to reinstall using the steps provided
