How do I add or reconnect a QuickBooks Online company to my DataDear account?

Learn how to add or reconnect your companies in QuickBooks Online to DataDear from the Dashboard or directly from Excel.

You need to add companies to DataDear to start using the Excel toolbar. You may add your companies via any one of these options:

Connect a QuickBooks Online company from the Dashboard

  1. Login to DataDear web Dashboard using your email and password.

  2. Click on the Organisations tab in the menu.

  3. Click on the Add a Service button and select Connect to QuickBooks . This will open your browser on Intuit’s login page where you are required to login to your Intuit account (or if you are already logged you will be automatically redirected) to access the Authorise Application screen in QuickBooks.

  4. From the drop-down provided, select the company and Client you wish to connect to DataDear and choose Confirm .

  5. QuickBooks will show a confirmation screen - choose Confirm to continue.

  6. QuickBooks will securely authorise the selected company. You will then be automatically redirected to the DataDear Web Dashboard > Organisations.

  7. You will now see the connected company. You may also assign a Friendly Name, a Client Code or an Office Location using the Edit button next to the company.

  8. Success! You are now ready to use this company from Excel using DataDear.

Connect a QuickBooks Online company from Excel

If you have already installed the DataDear add-in you may add the QuickBooks Online company directly from Excel.

  1. Open Excel, click on the DataDear tab and login using your email and password.

  2. Click on the Add icon and select QuickBooks Online Company from the menu. The button will be disabled (greyed out) for normal users.

  3. Click on the Add a Service button and select Connect to QuickBooks . This will open your browser on Intuit’s login page where you are required to login to your Intuit account (or if you are already logged you will be automatically redirected) to access the Authorise Application screen in QuickBooks.

  4. From the drop-down provided, select the company and Client you wish to connect to DataDear and choose Confirm .

  5. QuickBooks will show a confirmation screen - choose Confirm to continue.

  6. QuickBooks will securely authorise the selected company. You will then be automatically redirected to the DataDear Web Dashboard > Organisations.

  7. You will now see the connected company. You may also assign a Friendly Name, a Client Code or an Office Location using the Edit button next to the company.

  8. Return to the Excel and press the OK button to refresh the list of companies in DataDear. (If this window was closed earlier in the process, you will need to logout and log back in to refresh the list of companies.)

  9. The Account drop-down list will show the company you have just added. The Friendly Name assigned to this company will visible in this list. By default, the name used in QuickBooks Online will be used.

  10. Success! You are now ready to use this company from Excel using DataDear.

Additional Notes

  • You may add as many QuickBooks Online companies as required … even from multiple accounts.

  • You cannot add the same QuickBooks Online companies to different DataDear accounts - you will need to add the company to your account and then share this with your users within DataDear. This is a security limitation of Intuit’s API.

:information_source: If you are experiencing problems with a connected company, this could be resolved by repeating the connection process and reconnecting the company. When carrying out such a task, there is no need to delete the company. All statistics and related data will be retained.
