How to setup the registry keys (LOADBEHAVIOR) in the Windows registry?

Learn how to ensure the right registry settings have been applied to DataDear.

This article assumes DataDear is already installed on your machine and you have been unable to load DataDear directly from Excel - refer to this article.

Edit the Registry Editor (Directly)

  1. Ensure Excel is closed.

  2. Click on the Start button and type regedit .

  3. Open the Registry Editor and browse to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins]

  4. Open DataDear.ExcelAddIn and ensure "LOADBEHAVIOR"=dword:00000000 ( note it ends with a 0 ) - if not, double click on the LOADBEHAVIOR and replace value with 0 .

  5. Open DataDear.Loader and ensure "LOADBEHAVIOR"=dword:00000003 ( note it ends with a 3 ) - if not, double click on the LOADBEHAVIOR and replace value with 3 .

  6. Close the Registry Editor.

  7. Open Excel and DataDear should be loaded.

Change Registry via updater

  1. Download this registry file :arrow_down: update. The contents of this file are the following:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\DataDear.ExcelAddIn]

"LOADBEHAVIOR"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\DataDear.Loader]

"LOADBEHAVIOR"=dword:00000003
  1. Double click on downloaded file and click on Run .

  2. Accept all Windows warnings and the the keys will be installed to the registry

  3. Open Excel and the DataDear toolbar should be loaded.
