Enhanced Templates Library
The templates library has been upgraded to include:
Paid Templates provided by DataDear and Experts
Improved and better filters
The Templates Library has been converted into a marketplace allowing both free and paid templates to be available in the library. Free templates will continue to be provided by DataDear and these will be designed to help users with starting point to customise their own reports. Paid templates will be more sophisticated templates designed around solving specific problems and are published and maintained by DataDear Experts. The process works as follows:
- Download the Paid Template
- Try it out a few times
- Purchase the Template
- Allocate this to your company / companies
- Use the Template without any restrictions

As the number of templates in the templates library continues to increase, an improved layout with new filters has been introduced so it is easier to find the required template. Further functional improvements in this area will be introduced in the coming weeks.
Xero - Advanced Management Reports for single and group of companies
The most sophisticated report provided by the DataDear team and a highly requested feature by finance teams!
This advanced report allows you to create management accounts for a single Xero company or a DataDear group based on customisable:
Income Statement and Balance Sheet Mappings
Checks for all mappings
Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
The Profit & Loss and the Balance Sheet reports are based on reporting structures created on top of the Chart of Accounts which is used to establish how you wish to display the reports using both sections and groupings.

Giving users more rights
Another highly requested feature by larger teams is to allow designated users to be able to help with the management of the Organisations and with the Management of users.
Now this will be possible by toggling the respective “Yes/No” options in the Users page - welcome to a new way of collaboration and getting help from colleagues!
When choosing this option, the user will be able to:
add new organisations / companies
create new groups
edit existing ones (such as assigning a friendly name)
view usage and properties

add new users and resend invite
view login history
assign permissions & rights
Tax Reporting - VAT Return for Xero Global
This was officially launched last month and has just got better as the following features have been improved:
The account owner can limit access to the VAT module per connected organisation / company. This can be done from the Permissions tab next to the name of the user.
All the mapping and tax reports created by a member of the team will be visible to all users having access to the VAT reporting module within the same account.
Any saved templates for tax rates are visible to all users within the DataDear account so these can be used across the practice.
Outstanding (Aged) Reports (Payables and Receivables)
These reports have been improved:
Expected / Planned payment dates
A new Detailed Report option in the parameters window provides more information to a group of companies and also shows the Expected / Planned payment dates:
When using the Detailed Report option, the report will also include these extra columns:
When using a multi-currency group, the values within the columns are converted to the group currency based on forex rate of the day. This together with an extra column showing the organisation and group currency will provide a more accurate value of the outstanding amounts across the group.
Construction Industry Scheme
The report now also includes the CIS data which was previously ignored. This is useful for the UK construction industry.
As we have been anticipating over the last few months, the DataDear365 is a new Excel add-in sitting on the side of your Excel and can be installed directly from the Excel > Insert toolbar.
This is still a preview (which means it lacks several functionalities) version and the team will continue to work over the coming months to bring both add-ins to the same level. The data tables and reports provided by the add-in is correct and reliable.
If you wish to have a look follow the steps below:
- Open Excel and click on the Insert toolbar
- Click Get Add-ins
- Search for DataDear
- Use the green Add button to install the Add-in
Feedback on this add-in is welcome! Support on this new add-in will be limited as several features are still being developed.
Colour DataDear Sheets - DataDear created sheets will now be coloured differently depending the application being used.
Xero Accounts table - Adding “Current Year Earnings” as another line per company in the accounts data table. This is helpful when creating certain reports.
Xero Contacts table - This data table is now also available for DataDear Groups. It also shows all the persons associated with the contact.
Various bug fixes and performance improvements.
The upgrade will start on the 11th November 7.00am UTC (18.00 AEDT / 20.00 NZDT / 09.00 CEST / 9.00 SAST / 00.00 PDT) and will take no more than 1 hour during which DataDear will be unavailable. The add-in will update automatically once you open Excel after the release is completed.
