Unable to submit VAT return

Hi,

I’m trying to submit my first VAT return using Datadear, I’ve copied my invoices into the spreadsheet and all the totals have autofilled on the VAT return form. I’ve logged into my account and type in my VAT RN but get this error message:

Oops… We could not find any Outstanding period for this Vat Registration Number in HMRC. Check that the entered VRN is correct.

I’ve logged into my HMRC account and it quite clearly says I’ve got a return due (July to September 19) so I’m at a loss as to what to do next. Please advise ASAP as I need to submit before the beginning of Nov to avoid penalties.

Thanks,
M

Hi

Have you added your HMRC connection and selected this from the toolbar? I would suggest you take a look at our quick 15 minute training course? You can enroll via https://training.datadear.com/ that should walk you through the whole process start to finish!

Any other issues please let us know.

I’m getting the same message, what other solutions are there as I have already linked to the HMRC site?

did you ever sort this out, Tony?
I’m getting the same error.

This error is typically because 1 of 2 things, most likely;

  1. You need to instruct HMRC that you will now be filing under the MTD regime, please let them know via https://www.gov.uk/guidance/sign-your-business-up-for-making-tax-digital-for-vat

Or/

  1. You have entered an incorrect VRN, or authorised the wrong government gateway for your VRN. Please check VRN, and reauthorise DataDear with HMRC with the correct gateway credentials.

Thanks,
Carl
